The characters depict the mantra ‘Om mani padme hum’. ‘Hail to the jewel in the lotus’ I. e. the Buddha. The wall has become rather dilapidated and rather than splitting so that travellers can pass with the wall on their right the path keeps straight on. Taracot Eastern Nepal. October 1999.
