Diggers on the beach at Pett Level being used to build a groin made from imported new hard wood . On this part of the South Coast between Hastings and Dungeness the tides sweep the gravel on the beaches eastwards. There are continuous works to collect gravel from Dungeness and cart it back to this western point of Rye Bay. Despite new groins the process will continue and work will continue to prevent the marshes being inundated by the sea. Pett Level Sussex, UK. November 2004.
