Rye, one of the Cinque Ports, was a flourishing port until the end of the 16th century when the river silted up. It is now two miles from the sea and a small number of fishing and pleasure boats are moored in the River Rother and at Rye Harbour. This rotting fishing boat reflects the atmosphere of melancholy and decay. Rye Harbour, East Sussex, UK. October 2002
