The red berries of the Black Bryony (Tamus communis) are a common sight in early autumn festooning hedges and fences. They are poisonous to man but are quickly eaten by birds. This plant is related to the yams, Dioscoreaceae. Bedgebury Forest, Kent, UK. October 2002.
