Painting illustrating the ancient Tibetan Buddhist tale of the Four Friends or Harmonious Brothers on a wall. The four friends are an elephant, a monkey, a hare (sometimes a rabbit) and a partridge (sometimes a peacock or grouse). The fable relates both to the status due to age and cooperation. The four friends establish their ages and hence rank by recounting their earliest recollections of a banyan tree. By cooperating the four firends can reach fruit high in a fruit tree. Wangdichholing Dzong, Bhutan, Druk Yul. 16 November 2007
